Cardi B and husband Offset welcomed their second child, a son, in September, but kept the baby’s name under wraps — until now, that is.
The couple and their blended family, which also includes daughter Kulture and Offset’s three older children Kalea, Jordan, and Kroy, appeared on the cover of Essence and exclusively shared the baby boy’s name: Wave Set Cephus. It was also the first time we got to see his adorable face, and he looks just like his big sister Kulture.
Part of the reason Cardi and Offset decided to keep Wave away from the public eye for so long was bullying they experienced with Kulture, who even had her own Instagram page unti Cardi made it private. “We went through a lot of sad things when it comes to Kulture — terrible behavior that not even the older kids have ever been through,” Cardi told Essence. “So many people will post mean, disgusting things, just to get a reaction from us. We want to protect our feelings, because we get very, very angry and upset.”
Cardi teased her son’s name a few months ago, when she tweeted that she was thinking of getting it tattooed on her face. She didn’t go through with it, but little Wave is so cute we can certainly see why she contemplated it.
Cardi also shared that she and Offset are keeping their kids grounded despite their glamorous lifestyle. “We still teach our kids like normal parents,” Offset shared. “I’ve never told my daughter she’s a celebrity. I want her to have the mind of a working person. I always tell my kids how hard I worked, how many years I put in to be in a position where everything is good.”
The pair call their home a “safe house” and love nothing more than when the whole family is together. “I feel like sometimes people go into a relationship with a man or a woman who has kids with negativity—and I feel like people should embrace it, and love it,” Cardi said. “I love our family, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
